Nella Juma, a Kenyan native and project manager at New American Funding, has found her passion. She is thrilled to do meaningful work as she helps people achieve homeownership, a big part of the American Dream. Outside of work, she volunteers for Wonder Women Tech, a nonprofit, which highlights women in technology, and the Kenyan American Association, a nonprofit founded by her parents, which helps raise funds for other Kenyans.

Hello, my name is Nella Juma. My background is that I come from Kenya and I came here when I was a child. And then from there we jumped around from Arizona to California, so I was pretty much raised in Southern California. I have decided to focus more on project management after going to graduate school, and I found myself here at NAF.

So, outside of NAF, I also volunteer with multiple non-profits. One is Wonder Woman Tech, and that's a non-profit based out in Long Beach where we highlight women in tech, and we hold conferences all over the world, and then also the Kenyan American Association, which is actually an organization my parents founded when we came to Southern California, where we help other Kenyans raise the funds and give them funds to be able to go and bury their family back home because so many of us don't have majority of our family here, and it's very important to be buried where majority of their family reside.

So it's been a wonderful experience to grow up in KAA, specifically because I've been able to stay really close to my culture, and then on top of that to be able to give back to a community that's done so much for me and a group of people who have worked so hard to make sure that their children see a better life and they're able to achieve the American Dream. So I think it's really exciting that I'm actually working for NAF, which a large part of the American Dream for so many people is homeownership, so it's really exciting to know that I'm able to help in a certain regard and also to remove some of the stigma that a lot of millennials have towards buying homes, and know that there are tools that NAF can provide for you to make your dreams come true.
